Gallery: CCCX Race1a
The first race of the 2010 CCCX Mountain Bike Series held at Fort Ord, East Garrison. Not an official Kirby MTB Team race, but many team members came out to check out the course.
This was Jonah Hinman's first MTB Race and he completed the entire 3 laps! This is a great accomplishment for the first time out. We look forward to seeing him hit this same venue in two weeks with the rest of the team.
Jordan Derecho unfortunately had a major power loss on the first lap and called it a day as he came through the pit area.
Dan Pedersen came out and completed a solid race landing a 10th place finish. Dan, like our other junior high members, is competing this year in the 14-18 category which includes some well-seasoned, older riders.
Our senior rider of the day was Carson Chapman who finished the race in sixth place. Team Dad Matt Chapman also competed but couldn't hang on an initial lead he had over son, Carson. Carson is looking forward to competing in his first full NorCal series season starting with a race at this same venue in three weeks. Carson has come a long way over the summer and fall and it showed today. Way to go Carson and Matt!
JJ Anderson came out to pre-ride the course and see what lies ahead for her first race. JJ did a great job at all the climbs of the course but was a little surprised how long one lap was. We have a plan for focusing on completing the race, and based on how far she has come in just 3 months of riding, we know she can do it.
